WPT Venice Down to 27 Players [Royal Flush Girls Video]
After 2 days of play, the WPT Venice is down to just 27 players, and two of them are James Akenhead and Kara Scott. Find out what else happened on Day 2, and check out a video of the Royal Flush Girls in Venice.
155 players entered the WPT Venice on Monday, and after two days of play just 27 remain. The majority of those players are relatively unknown, but there are a few familiar faces left in the field.
What happened on Day 2?
Marcel Bjerkmann takes charge - Marcel Bjerkmann may not be a familiar face to most poker fans, but he probably should be. His biggest live cash to date is a victory in the 2010 Masters Classics of Poker in Amsterdam for about €400,000, but his online career playing as "p3rc4" is even more impressive. In 2011, he won both the Sunday Million AND a WCOOP bracelet. The Norwegian pro leads the field heading into Day 3 with 436,300 chips.
Candio falls - The chip leader heading into Day 2, Filippo Candio, hit the rail after losing several small pots and then running pocket Queens into the pocket Aces of Jason Wheeler, who currently sits in third place. Candio managed to hit a set on the flop, but the better hand won when Wheeler's Aces hit a flush on the river.
Akenhead and Scott remain - The two best-known players who will enter Day 3 with chips are James Akenhead and Kara Scott. Akenhead sits comfortably in 4th place with 336,000 chips. Scott isn't quite as happy with her 60,100 chips (25 big blinds at the current 1,200/2,400/400 level), but she can still make a run at the title with a bit of luck.
